Both value and volume of Japan's textile and apparel imports decreased in July compared to the same period last year, and also shrank compared to 2019. Although there was a month on month increase in July, Japan's textile and apparel import demand recovered weakly. As per the latest data by the CCF Group, the volume of Japan's textile and apparel imports increased month-on-month in July. However, it declined by double-digits year-over-year compared with the same period in 2019.
From January to July, the volume of Japan's textile and apparel imports increased by 1.9 per cent year-on-year. However, its value dropped by 11.6 per cent year-on-year. The import volume and value declined by 4.2 per cent and 12.8 per cent respectively compared with that in same period of 2019.
From January to July this year, Japan’s textile and apparel imports from China rose in February, March and June compared with the same period last year, while those fell in other months. However, in terms of import value, it rose in February, while it fell other months.
The proportion of import volume of Japan's textile and apparel imported from China in total imports fell in July from the previous month, and that of import value was flat in July from a month earlier.
