The woven casualwear category within the readymade garment (RMG) sector of Bangladesh is expected to grow at the rate of 4-5 per cent in the current calendar year, according to Sheikh Islam Shaheenul, director – marketing & merchandising of Dhaka-based casualwear exporter Windy Group. The category's growth took a beating of 13 per cent due to COVID-19 in 2020.
The woven casualwear category was clocking in a growth of 8-9 per cent in the pre-COVID times, Shaheenul told Fibre2Fashion in an interview.
He added that “fabric availability within short period of time, faster shipment, speed of order handling capacity, newness in fabric design and wash capability” are some of the factors that influence the growth of the category in the country.
