AECE participated in “Mapping the textile value chain in Egypt” Seminar which organized in the frame of SwitchMed programme / MED TEST III project to share with companies and other stakeholders in the textile/apparel sector, the results of the survey conducted by local and international experts team during the year 2021 to analyze the quantity and quality of textile waste in Egypt with the aim to identifying opportunities for their industrial recovery. It also provided an opportunity to present the next activities foreseen in the work plan, such as the identification and implementation of pilot projects for the recovery of post-industrial and pre-consumer textile waste. The seminar discussed the viewpoints of representatives of some key actors, to promote the progress of recycling in line with global requirements, thereby reducing losses and increasing exports from the textile and apparel sector. SwitchMed programme, an initiative funded by the European Union, aims to stimulate the creation of new business opportunities and decent jobs while reducing the environmental footprint of existing economic activities in the Southern Mediterranean. MED TEST III project in Egypt, launched through SwitchMed programme in cooperation with the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Environment, and implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), with a special focus on the industrial textile supply chains of Egypt. |
