Apparel Export Council of Egypt in collaboration with Trade USAID organized Sedex/SMETA training program, which is one of the key responsible sourcing standard required for apparel sector at global markets. The first day focused on explaining the concept of corporate social responsibility and its role in improving overall factory performance, alongside the importance of Sedex, which goes beyond product or service quality by assessing the companies' commitment to ethical labor standards and social compliance. The training program was opened by Mrs. Sherin Hosni, AECE Executive Director, and was led by a group of sustainable development and quality management experts: Mr. Hesham Bayoumi, Mr. Amr Badran, and Mr. Rami Sabih. On the final day of the program, the focus was on the international SMETA standard, which is used to evaluate and audit ethical practices in the supply chain to ensure companies comply with fair labor standards. This was achieved through audits covering several key aspects. Additionally, a compliance guide for SMETA standards and best practices in sustainable supply chains was presented. At the end of the training, certificates of completion were awarded to the participants. |
